Dear Potential National Honor Society Member:
Soon the Bixby High School chapter of National Honor Society will induct new members during our annual initiation ceremony. Membership in the National Honor Society is based upon excellence in four areas: scholarship, leadership, service, and character. Each category will be judged independently.
To be eligible for membership, a student must have a cumulative weighted grade point average of 3.5 or above. In addition to the academic requirement, potential inductees will need to complete the following application and return the forms to Ms. Tillman. The Faculty Selection Committee will then evaluate each completed application by applying the following criteria:
- Attitude (positive, team building, peer respect)
- Respect for others (including faculty, staff, parents, and other students)
- Class Conduct (conduct should be exceptional-must not have had a disciplinary referral within the past 12 months).
- Attendance and Punctuality (students must be in attendance not less than 80% of the school term. Students must also not be habitually late to class).
If you do not desire membership in National Honor Society or feel that you do not or cannot maintain all of the requirements, you are not required to complete this form. Your name will be withdrawn from further consideration; however, if you are interested, please complete and return this form to the National Honor Society sponsor no later than Friday, Oct14th. To be considered for membership, you must have completed the attached student activity form. If any part is left blank, your name will be automatically eliminated from consideration. It is your responsibility to meet the deadline.
